Massachusetts

Host Site:
Youth. Food. Community. Three seemingly distinct issues that intersect in one place: The Food Project. From urban farms to a national college campaign, The Food Project brings together youth and adults from diverse backgrounds who work together to build local and sustainable food systems for Boston and the surrounding suburbs.
Service Sites:
Through The Food Project, FoodCorps Service Members help lead an awareness campaign aimed at increasing the amount of healthy, locally-sourced food provided through school. Members also serve in the communities of Lynn and Gloucester, leading after school programs and summer workshops on growing and preparing healthy food.
Service Members are also hosted by CitySprouts, in Cambridge, MA - a nationally renowned leader in building and integrating school gardens into district-wide curriculum. Members support district-wide school garden programs and help provide training and support to teachers, schools, and school districts in Boston, Cambridge, Gloucester and Lynn.
Service Members can also be found serving within Boston Public Schools food services department, helping draw connections between the cafeteria, the garden and the classroom.
