Pledge to Support Healthy Food in Schools
More than 30 million kids rely on schools for lunch, and more than 12 million for breakfast. Schools can help shape a child’s relationship with food—and the eating habits they’ll carry for their whole lives.
Right now, we’ve got a generation of children that is overweight, vulnerable to diet-related disease, and more likely to suffer from a variety of health problems that will hold them back throughout their lifetimes.
One in three of our nation’s children are on track to develop diabetes in their lifetime. For kids of color, it’s one in two. And a child born into poverty is twice as likely to be overweight as their affluent peers.
Children and adults who suffer from diet-related diseases score lower on tests, miss more days of school, advance less in their careers, and raise children who are likely to repeat the same cycle.
We need your support to create a nation in which all children––regardless of class, race, or geography––get the nourishment they need to grow up healthy and thrive.
Will you stand up to make sure kids can grow up healthy and reach their full potential? Will you stand up for policies that will help make that happen?
