If You Can’t Grow Out, Grow Up!

At YWCA in New Britain, there is limited space available for a garden. That didn’t stop the high school House of Teens program and middle school STRIVE program from making a beautiful, bountiful garden space!

Using hanging pockets and small raised beds with trellis’s around the perimeter of a space usually used for staff lunch breaks we were able to plant a variety of eye pleasing, tasty and garden enhancing fruits, vegetables and flowers.

This space will be used for activities for students of all ages at the YWCA giving them the opportunity to learn how to grow food in an urban area and try new fruits and vegetables that they have grown themselves.
