Parma City School District
The Parma City School District (PCSD) is thrilled to welcome FoodCorps to Parma, Ohio! As the second-largest school district in Northeast Ohio, PCSD serves approximately 9,000 students across 12 school buildings, including two high schools, three middle schools, and seven elementary schools.
The district’s Nutrition Services team is committed to supporting Ohio’s local food system and increasing access to nutritious meals. They prepare meals from scratch, offer local produce daily, engage students in seasonal taste tests, and much more. To complement the work happening in the cafeterias, PCSD is looking to integrate more food education in the classroom. Two FoodCorps Food Educators will help support Parma City School District’s mission to empower students to make informed decisions about what’s on their plate.
Each FoodCorps Food Educator will work across two K-8 schools, partnering with teachers to incorporate the FoodCorps curriculum into classroom learning and bring lessons to life. They will assist with growing, maintaining, and harvesting gardens, lead engaging taste tests, organize community events, facilitate after-school cooking activities, and gather valuable data from these initiatives. Through these hands-on experiences, students will deepen their understanding of how their fruits and vegetables travel through the food system to their table.
If you’re passionate about making a meaningful impact and excelling in a fast-paced environment, a FoodCorps position in Parma is the perfect fit. As the Farm-to-School movement gains momentum, you’ll have the opportunity to lead exciting new initiatives while helping expand existing ones. If our mission and vision resonate with you, we encourage you to apply!
