Tully Elementary Fuels Up

FoodCorps schools are becoming healthier places to learn and grow, and we’re not the only ones taking note. Tully Elementary in Arizona has shown so much progress this year that the Food Service Department for the district surprised the school with a cooler full of cooking supplies and a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant of $4,000. “We were all surprised but ecstatic to have our efforts rewarded,” said Service Member Jenn Diggs. She and her colleagues are using the grant, from the NFL and the National Dairy Council, to build a student wellness committee that will coordinate events around nutrition and gardens, cook together, and visit a local farm.
