DC Public Schools
The District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Food and Nutrition Services’ mission is to ensure that all DCPS students are engaged and have access to wholesome and delicious meals that promote long-term wellness, preparation for learning and satisfaction with their school. We serve over 15 million school meals annually to 50,000 students across 118 schools.
FoodCorps members will be situated on the operations team where they will be given both central office and school-based projects. These projects will contribute to our larger student experience improvement initiative and could include things like; taste testing implementation, convening student ambassadors, strengthening relationships with school leaders, developing cafeteria marketing protocol and/or projects directed by the FoodCorps member.
FoodCorps DC Metro members join a close-knit cohort serving BIMPOC communities in our nation’s capital. In addition to free museums, a thriving urban agriculture network, and a backyard that includes Rock Creek Park, DC Metro corps members have access to DC’s metro and bus system and bike-friendly streets as options to ease the daily commute. Come to support DC’s diverse student population as they build stronger relationships with food, stay for the opportunity to work with amazing DC leaders and eat some of the best pupusas, Ethiopian food, and half smokes you’ll ever try.
