Bangor Public Schools
Fruit Street School
The Fruit Street School is a vibrant and community-oriented school, focused on both the academic and social growth of its students. With a student body of over 300 and a dedicated staff. The entire community is committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
The PTO’s commitment to student success, including its involvement in the creation of a beautiful garden, is a wonderful initiative. The designation of the school garden as a Pollinator-Friendly Garden is a significant achievement and shows the school’s dedication to environmental awareness and sustainability. The collaboration with FoodCorps and a Food Education Member adds another layer of enrichment to the school’s programs, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities about food, nutrition, and the environment. Corps members will work with our staff to foster smart, engaged, and community-minded students, while also encouraging a healthy, environmentally conscious approach to learning.
Fairmount School
The Fairmount School is a great community within a great community, focused on both the academic and social growth of its students and making deeper connections with our community.
While the Fairmount neighborhood is an urban area we have access to open spaces which we share with our neighboring 14th St school. This space his home to a budding but growing garden and outdoor education space, something we are looking forward to continuing to expand and connect more to our curricula with the help of FoodCorps and our Food Education Member in the coming years. The collaboration with FoodCorps adds another layer of enrichment to the school’s programs, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities about food, nutrition, and the environment. Service members will work with our staff to foster smart, engaged, and community-minded students, while also encouraging a healthy, environmentally conscious approach to learning.
