San Francisco Unified School District
School Health Programs supports all SFUSD schools so as to be welcoming and inclusive environments where students are safe, healthy and ready to learn. The office supports health education and the district’s Wellness Policy through board-mandated K-12 health lessons. Student Nutrition Services provides high-quality meals to our students. SFUSD views comprehensive health education as a right of passage for ALL students.
FoodCorps members in San Francisco are placed at one school wherein they provide hands-on lessons for students in the garden and classrooms, actively support school meals and help to build a school environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice. Corps members are provided with consistent and high quality professional development, and plentiful opportunities to learn, receive coaching, and collaborate with peers.
Becoming a corps member in California connects you to a legacy and future of innovative farm to school programming, vibrant school communities, and equitable access to nourishing school meals. FoodCorps California members are part of a large cohort partnering in communities across the state. California corps members are important members of the school and district community, lead nutrition and garden lessons, promote social and emotional wellness, and support initiatives such as School Meals For All, California Thursdays/California Food for California Kids, and Harvest of the Month programs by running taste tests, supporting meal programs, and making mealtime an educational and socially fulfilling time.
