Policy Landscape and Our Work

Louisiana does not currently have a statewide universal free school meals policy. HB 282 was introduced in 2023 by Representative Kyle M. Green, which in its original text would have provided free school meals to all public school students. However, amended versions of the bill included eligibility requirements for students to receive free meals.
