Role Summary: You’re a great fit for the Food Education role! This position is ideal for those who enjoy working closely with students in a classroom setting. You’ll engage kids in hands-on learning about food, nutrition, and gardening, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for healthy eating.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engaging lessons in classrooms and outdoor garden spaces, teaching students about nutrition and agriculture.
Maintain and care for school garden spaces, using them as an interactive learning tool.
Develop lesson plans that are rooted in community and honor the traditions of students and their families.
Foster curiosity and inspire a love for learning about food.
Imagine This: You’re standing in a vibrant school garden, guiding a group of enthusiastic students as they plant their first seeds. You explain how the vegetables they’re growing will contribute to nutritious meals and discuss the science of plant growth. Later, in the classroom, you incorporate these lessons into a fun, interactive nutrition activity.
