Food Mill Columbus

The Food Mill, a branch of UGROW Inc. 501(c)(3), is a multifunctional food farmacy that works to eliminate the barriers that lead to food insecurity and high rates of diet-related illnesses in our community. Food Mill accomplishes this by connecting Columbus residents to nutritious, locally-sourced food through farm to table healthy meal distribution, local farmers and mobile markets, a medically tailored meals program, and partnerships with other nonprofits and organizations. These partnerships also foster a health-minded culinary culture that enriches the local economy through on the job training and creates employment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Members will support Farm to School programming in participating schools by delivering hands-on gardening and nutrition education lessons to students in Fox Elementary, Truth Springs Academy, South Columbus Elementary and River Road Elementary. Inaugural FoodCorps members will play a central role in establishing garden, culinary, and nutrition education in the culture and curriculum of partner schools.

In collaboration with site partners, FoodCorps Georgia serves over a dozen schools, reaching more than 1000 students with hands-on experiences in gardening, nutrition, and food preparation. With a presence in a diverse set of environments, Service Members are impacting urban and rural communities across the state. There’s a place for everyone. Join FoodCorps to serve up change with a cohort of food justice leaders and a network of community-centered changemakers!
