FoodCorps Partners with Houston Independent School District to Support School Nutrition

HOUSTON (September 28, 2026) — FoodCorps announced today its new partnership with Houston Independent School District (HISD), marking the first Texas-based programming for the nonprofit organization. 

“FoodCorps is honored to bring our work to the Lone Star State and grow an impactful partnership with HISD,” said Curt Ellis, CEO and co-founder of FoodCorps. “As one of the largest school districts in the country, HISD is positioned to serve as a model for what nourishing food in school can be. We look forward to collaborating with HISD to bring that vision to life for Houston students.”

Two FoodCorps School Nutrition Support Specialists will work with school nutrition staff at HISD during the 2026-2027 school year. They’ll help bring more nutritious meals and snacks into the cafeteria, support local procurement and farm-to-school initiatives, and lead taste tests, demonstrations, and other activities celebrating nourishing food. 

In the 2026-2027 school year, FoodCorps is partnering with 16 schools and districts in 9 states, and celebrating 15 years of its school programs.
