FoodCorps Welcomes Rachel Willis as Interim President

Rachel Willis, Co-Chair of FoodCorps’ Board of Directors, has been appointed interim President through the end of the organization’s program year, July 2025. Dr. Robert S. Harvey has resigned as Co-CEO and President. We thank Dr. Harvey for his substantial contributions to the organization.

Willis joined FoodCorps’ Board of Directors in 2019 and became Co-Chair in 2023. She is the founder of Elevating Equity, an organization that supports education-based leaders in creating anti-racist, culturally responsive environments. In this capacity, Rachel leads professional development workshops, conducts equity audits for schools and districts, and supports schools and organizations in creating culturally responsive curricula. To date, Elevating Equity has worked with over 6,000 education leaders nationwide.

Willis has over a decade of experience teaching and leading in K-12 and graduate level settings and is an AmeriCorps alumna. Named the 2009 Atlanta Public Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year and 2010 Milken Educator Award recipient, Rachel previously served on former Governor Nathan Deal’s Education Advisory Board and was appointed as a trustee to the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia. In addition, Rachel led leadership development at Teach for America and designed programming for Columbia University Teachers College to support principals in developing anti-racism leadership skills. 

Willis received her B.A. in Government from Smith College and a M.Ed. in Organization and Leadership from Columbia University. She currently resides in her hometown of Atlanta.

Willis will co-lead FoodCorps with the organization’s co-founder and CEO, Curt Ellis, as FoodCorps pursues its ambitious 2030 goal of every child having access to food education and free, nourishing meals in school. We look forward to working alongside Rachel Willis in service of every child’s health and well-being.
