Cooking Light and FoodCorps Team Up to Create a Healthier Generation of Kids
Oct 24, 2011 – New Collaboration Aims to Raise Awareness About Childhood Obesity
NEW YORK, October 24, 2011—In honor of Food Day, Cooking Light, the nation’s number one epicurean brand and FoodCorps, a new national service organization dedicated to addressing childhood obesity, announced today a new relationship to help promote a healthier generation of kids. Cooking Light and FoodCorps will reach out to the public across myriad platforms, including events, conferences, magazine editorial, digital and books, with the overarching goal of generating support and awareness about healthy eating that will benefit America’s children and their families.
“Cooking Light’s 25th anniversary plans for 2012 included an important alliance with a nonprofit organization which shares our focus on health and concern about food education,” said Diane Oshin, Group Publisher, Cooking Light. “FoodCorps immediately stood out from the pack because the organization’s core values so closely align with ours. Through nutrition education and other programs, FoodCorps is working to arm the next generation of Americans with the knowledge to live healthier, happier lives through the enjoyment of food. We are excited to be collaborating with FoodCorps to raise awareness and funds for such an important cause.”
“FoodCorps is thrilled to combine forces with Cooking Light to help this and the next generation realize nutritious is delicious. From fun seasonal kid-approved recipes to kitchen garden growing tips, we look forward to growing a healthy nation together,” said Debra Eschmeyer, Co-Founder and Program Director for Policy and Partnerships, FoodCorps.
Cooking Light and FoodCorps will work together to promote the importance of nutrition education and healthful living.
Cooking Light is the only food content brand focused on making healthy food taste great. FoodCorps responds to our country’s painful and costly childhood obesity epidemic by placing service members into schools in communities of need. These service members provide nutrition education that teaches children what healthy food is; build and tend school gardens that engage children and community volunteers; and source local food for cafeterias.
